Community Care

Community Care provides community-based services that promote the health, well-being, and independence of individuals and families. In 2010 they approached me to redesign their Web site and update their online branding. Through several conversations we were able to decide on a color scheme and design that we all agreed was an improvement from their previous Web site and represented their warmth, friendliness, and approachability.

Sawyer Wedding

In the autumn of 2010, I married my beautiful wife, Jasmine. In the months before the wedding, I designed the physical invitations as well as an invitation Web site. The invitations were printed through Zazzle.com’s printing service. After they were printed, we cut a space in each one to hold a wallet-sized photo of us, with a monogram behind it.

A Toymaker In ME

In 2010, my dad decided to take his passion for making wooden toys to the next level and start marketing and selling them. He came up with the name A Toymaker In ME and the slogan, “Putting imagination back in play.”, and asked me to brand the company. I created the faces of A Toymaker In ME, Penny & Liam; designed the online shop on Big Cartel; and created product labels and packaging. This will be an ongoing project as the company evolves, new products are added to the lineup, and we create some fun products around Penny & Liam.

The New York Film Chorale

The New York Film Chorale, a chorus consisting of professional classical singers in New York, has contributed to numerous musical scores for film, television, and video games. In 2008 I completed a Web site to coordinate with their new marketing materials. This was also my first freelance Web design project. I created the visual design, developed the HTML & CSS, and created the intros and music player in Adobe Flash.

ReBoot Camps

Every summer, Media Works hosted a series of summer camps to teach kids about different aspects of graphic design, including photography, video, music, animation, and game design. The students got hands-on experience, and they took home a finished project at the end of each session. In 2007, 2008, and 2009, I led the redesign of the ReBoot Camps Web site. The 2007 redesign was a complete “reboot”, using only the logo and characters from the previous design. The 2008 redesign was just a visual update, based on a better organized version of the 2007 site. In 2009 I revamped the entire site again with a new color scheme and overall look. Unfortunately, Media Works closed before the 2009 ReBoot Camps sessions took place.

In 2006, Media Works received a grant from the Verizon Foundation to create a Web site that would educate youth about dating abuse. After several months of researching and planning, we created this concept, which lets visitors explore an apartment full of examples of dating abuse in various media, including videos, animations, and interactive features. I was involved in the initial research, I was the main intern involved in the design and coding of the Flash interface, and I assisted with the 3D rendering of the apartment and furniture.

We created a touch screen video and information kiosk for the Bar Harbor Whale Museum in Bar Harbor, Maine. I was involved with the initial design and handled the final ActionScript coding in Flash.
